Conflict Mode Instrument

The Conflict Mode Instrument is a short self-assessment that helps you understand how you typically respond to conflict and which approaches you tend to prefer when differences arise (e.g., disagreements about priorities, decisions, communication, or ways of working).

It measures your preferred conflict-handling modes across common situations, showing the balance you use between assertiveness (how strongly you pursue your own needs) and cooperativeness (how strongly you consider others’ needs). Your results highlight patterns such as when you’re more likely to collaborate, compromise, accommodate, avoid, or compete.

The purpose isn’t to label your style as “good” or “bad,” but to build self-awareness—so you can recognise what you default to under pressure, understand the impact on others, and choose the most effective approach for the situation.
